Framework:Multilingual function:Creation, Modification and Deletion of multilingual data contents
Currently, it is possible to create dimension elements and text fields in several languages. To do this, please proceed as follows:
- register in the language into which you would like to translate the dimension elements
- open the dimension maintenance (desired dimension) and overwrite the text of the dimension element to be translated
- upon saving, the text is written into the translation tables. In the dimension itself the text is not modified. If a user logs in in the translated language, the dimension element in the dimension maintenance, input mask, reporting appears with the translated text.
- If the element is deleted, the translation is also deleted. If the translation text is modified in such a way that it corresponds to the original caption (system language), the entry is deleted again from the translation table.
If upon creating a new dimension element, the login is not in the system language, both a basic element (system language) and an entry in the translation table are created. The CoPlanner offers the opportunity to create text filters. If a text filter has been allocated to a column which is defined as “not translatable”, the filtering refers to the text in the system language.
Example
Translating a dimension element
Let’s assume a user wants to use his product dimension in two different languages. The elements in German already exist. Now the English captions shall be entered into the system. First, the product dimension shall be translated. Start the CoPlanner and select “English” as language.
This means that in case some data have already been translated into English they are sent to the client in their translated version or modifications in the columns defined as “translatable” are included into the translation tables.
Now open the countries/customer dimension.
Since so far no translations have been entered, the element names correspond to the standard language (German).

Now mark the dimension element which you wish to translate. Enter the text and press the “Save” button.
