Success planning on yearly/monthly basis

General

Depending on your preferences and needs, you can choose whether to enter your plan data on a yearly or monthly basis. If you choose to do your planning at the monthly level, you can still plan both on a yearly and a monthly basis. In contrast to the yearly planning group, however, the option for an initial monthly distribution of the plan data using predefined seasonal distribution keys will not be available

Hint  In the monthly planning option, the values entered are distributed by default in a linear fashion, or, in the case of already existing plan data, are broken down proportionately over individual months.

Links and consequences for plan data entry

The time axis in the planning masks is divided into years during success planning on a yearly basis. Data can only be entered on a yearly basis. This value is broken down into monthly values using the predefined seasonal distribution key (default = linear) and transferred into the monthly success plan. Consequently, the monthly success plan is populated from the yearly success planning data

Enterprise Edition, Seasonal distribution of yearly values to monthly values

It is possible to make subsequent corrections in the monthly plan to the values transferred from the yearly plan. When doing so, the following points must be observed.

  • Changes made (in the monthly success plan) to the values transferred from the yearly plan are not written back into the yearly plan. In this case, the two areas will not display identical values!
  • Any editing of existing values in the yearly plan will overwrite the target data records in the monthly plan. This means that any corrections that were made to the target data records in the monthly plan will also be overwritten!
