Data Transfer Assistant
In the input mask, select the cell for which you want to transfer the previous year’s data or the projection data or whose value you want to distribute across a dimension.
Click the Assistant symbol
or launch the Assistant using the right mouse key to open the dialogue.
Data transfer
Use this option to transmit actual data and top-down planning data in the performance planning area. Select the target fields for which you want to transmit the previous year’s data, and click the Assistant symbol
in the Ribbon.
When you run the Assistant, the previous year’s data will be transmitted for the selected field. In the fields displaying the previous year’s values, you can see the values available/selected for data transfer.
The next screen will ask whether you want to transfer the actual data. Confirm the selection by clicking “Finish”.
In the next step, you can increase or reduce the percentages of the data before starting the transfer. To transfer the data without any changes, click “Yes” when prompted to “Edit data”.
The last step of the dialogue will be shown:
You can enter the desired change as a percentage value or input a new target value. In the latter case, the resultant percentage change will be calculated automatically and displayed in the “Change in %” field. The changes are distributed proportionately over the original values:
Data Distribution
If you have placed plan data on dimension node elements, you can automatically distribute such data onto lower-level dimension elements. Select the value “Product/Quantity” for distribution, then launch the Assistant by left-clicking on the Assistant symbol
in the Ribbon. Alternatively, you can launch the Assistant by right-clicking on the target field.
Choose the desired dimension.
You can now choose between various different distribution options.
Distribution Options
If you have placed plan data on dimension node elements, you can automatically distribute such data either onto the hierarchical level immediately below the node or onto the lowest level. To do so, first define the dimension, then select the desired option in the Distribution Assistant: “One level” or “Last level”.
Distribution to “One level” below
A quantity of 12,000 was planned on the node element “Bikes”. In the Data Assistant, “One level” is selected to break down this quantity over the dimension elements “Alp 2000”, “Tycoon Carbon”, “Strike Limited”, and “High Octand”. The data is distributed according to “structure”, i.e. proportionately to the number of elements in the selected distribution level.
Distribution to “Last level”
The turnover planned on the “Products” node element must be distributed to the last level. To do so, select the option “Last level” in the Data Assistant.
As the distribution option “Structure” was selected in the Data Assistant, the distribution will be performed according to the following logic: The value to be distributed is always initially distributed proportionately on the next level.
Distribution to “Last level”, proportionately to number of elements
Alternatively, you can specify that the value must be distributed proportionately to the number of elements in the last level and broken down accordingly. To do so, select “Element” in the Distribution Assistant.
As the last level contains 14 dimension element, the value (857.-) is broken down according to this number.
| Hint The element “Unassigned” is not included in the distribution. |
