Restoring the relational database

Installation of Microsoft SQL-Server on the Server of database is the requirement for restoring!

  • „SQL Server Enterprise Manager“ has to be started to restore the SQL-Database.
  • Set up a new database on requested SQL-Server (name is free selectable).
  • Click on new database with the right mouse button, choose “Tasks”, “Restore”, and finally “Database…”.

  • Set a name of set up database and choose the option „From device“.
  • Push the button „Select Devices“ and define the restoring of file „cop_*“ as medium, which is contained in folder „db“ (selection by „harddisk -> Select file“).

  • Under „Options“ the feature „Force restore over existing database“ has to be activated.
  • In addition, there is the possibility to set individually the physical location of saving of database.
  • Finally restoring of the SQL-Database can be carried out.


Set up Analysis Services

  • „Analysis-Manager“ has to be started to restore the Analysis-Database.

Select the requested Server, on which database should be restored. Click „Action -> Restore database“, choose folder „cop*.cab“ and carry out the instruction.

  • Next step is to adapt data source for Analysis-DB.
  • Therefore open restored database in console stock, folder data source and select „CopSource“. If you choose with the right mouse button the option „Edit“, you can change features of data connections.

  • Change settings of dialog that determined settings for the SQL-Server comply with those under point 2.1.
  • After restoring of database, this has to be processed for the first time. Therefore please click with the right mouse button on database and choose „Edit database“.


Hint  If you like to use OLAP-database, the user profile, in which CoPlanner Service/Console was started, has to belong to the group OLAP administrators. Furthermore Analysis Manager with SP3 has to exist on that computer on which CoPlanner Server is installed.

The following points are additional Microsoft-Specifications, which have to be fulfilled:

1.You have to have the right of access on the following folders of registration on the Server: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OLAP Server\Server Connection Info
2.You have to have the right of writing on secret Share MsOLAPRepository$, which contains OLAP Services Repository and opened files.
3.You have to have the full right of access on the folders Bin and Data under the folder Program Folders\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin. Each user has normally the full right of access on these folders.
4.If you install Service Packs, all SQL and OLAP-services have to be finished, otherwise the installation can not be carried out completely.

SQL-Server 2005

Restore the relational database

Installation of Microsoft SQL-Server 2005 on the Server of database is the requirement for restoring!

  • „SQL Server Management Studio“ has to be started to restore the SQL-Database.
  • Set up a new database on requested SQL-Server (name is free selectable).
  • Click on new database with the right mouse button, choose “Tasks”, “Restore”, and finally “Database…”.

  • Set a name of set up database and choose the option „From device“.
  • Push the button with three points beside it and the window “Specify Backup” appears.

  • Push the button “Add” and define the restoring of file „cop_*“ as medium, which is contained in folder „db“, but first you have to choose “all folders” as Folders of type (selection by „harddisk -> Select file“).
  • Tick off the box under restore.

  • Under „Options“ the feature „Overwrite the existing database“ has to be activated.
  • In addition, there is the possibility to set individually the physical location of saving of database.
  • Finally restoring of the SQL-Database can be carried out.


Set up Analysis Services

  • „Analysis-Manager“ has to be started to restore the Analysis-Database.
  • Select the requested Server, on which database should be restored. Click with the right mouse button on it and choose „Restore“.
  • Choose the restored database or enter a new name as you wish in the first field.
  • Click on “Browse” and a new window appears in which you have to select a path and fill in a folder name. With click on “OK” you get back to the first window.
  • Under “Options” you have to tick off “Allow database overwrite” as well, if you restore an existing database.
  • Finally you have to enter a password.

  • Next step is to adapt data source for Analysis-DB.en.

Therefore open restored database in console stock, folder data source and select „Cop“. If you choose with the right mouse button the option „Properties“, you can change features of data connections, so long as you click on the right site at “Connection String” in the window, which is intermediary.
