Under certain conditions, the Excel Client can produce known errors. The following erroneous behaviours are known and can be solved as described here:

After installing, and sometimes after successful initial use of the program, the item CoPlanner X.X will be missing from the Add-Ins tab.

  • Setup must be installed for every user form whom the Excel Client is to be available (see Installation). (Admin => setup. exe, User => CopAddinSetup. msi).
  • The file Excel.exe.config belonging to the previous version of the Excel Client must be removed from the folder containing the file Excel.exe.
  • The macro security level in Excel must be Low or Medium (Tools => Macro => Security).
  • The Excel Client was disabled for some reason (Office Button, Excel Options, Add-Ins, Manage, Disabled items).
  • The LoadBehavior flag in the Registry is not set to 3. This flag can be found under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\AddIns\ExcelClient. There are several possible reasons for this:
  • The user does not have read privileges in the install folder;
  • An older version of the client was not successfully uninstalled;
  • The .Net Batch (Installation) was not successfully installed.
  • An older version was not properly uninstalled. Verify the Registry entry for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3F1EF353-FFE4-4C60-95C2-FA39DAFE1953}\InprocServer32. This entry must contain a Registry key that is identical to the version number of the version of the CoPlanner Excel Client that you wish to run. Please ensure that only ONE Registry key containing a version number is present.

Connection to the CoPlanner server cannot be established.

  • Check your access details in the file ClientConfig.xml ([Path to Excel Client]\ClientConfig.xml) (Server/Port/TcpFormatter)
  • There is a version conflict between the client and the server (compare CoPlanner X.X => Info => Version with the version number of the CoPlanner server).

No response when clicking on CoPlanner X.X menu items.

  • The country setting must correspond to the language of the version of Excel that is installed on your computer. For example, if you have an English operating system and an English version of Excel, then the country must be set to EN.

The message “The macro ExcelClient.DeactivateScreenUpdate cannot be executed” appears on refreshing the sheet after log in, or Excel Client functions are not recognized (#Name).

  • The entry for AddIn usage is no longer present in the Excel arithmetic unit. Use the Registry Editor (Regedit) to edit the entry OPEN /A “ExcelClient” for the user (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\X.0\Excel\Options).

The message “The macro ExcelClient.DoCellWrite cannot be executed” appears on refreshing the sheet after log in, or Excel Client functions are not recognized (#Name).

Installation Excel x64 versions: CoPlanner is missing at the Excel menu

After installing CoPlanner Excel Client for Excel 64 bit not all registy entries will be set. To set all entries you have to execute the file (download here) as administrator.

Excel crashes in combination with the MicroStrategy AddIn

Therefor we apply a hotfix. You can find a description here. Download the hotfix here

Activated UAC: The ExcelAddinActivator crashes during the Setup

If the UAC is activated it isn't sufficient to execute the install.bat as Administrator. In this case you must start a command shell with administrator rights. Then you call up the file install.bat out of the command shell.

Excel Export: Errorcode 0x80028018

If the client computer runs the English version of Excel and the locale for the current user is configured for a language other than English, Excel will try to locate the language pack for the configured language. If the language pack is not found, the error is reported.

You’ll have to install the configured language pack for Excel that matches your computer’s language setting.

Error Message during the installation, Setup cancels

This error message could evoke if the uninstallation of the previous Excel Client wasn't done completely:

Die angekündigte Anwendung wird nicht installiert, da dieser Vorgang möglicherweise nicht sicher ist. Wenden Sie sich an den Administrator, um die Benutzeroberflächenoption für die Installation des Pakets zu ändern. (This advertised application will not be installed because it might be unsafe. Contact your administrator to change the installation user interface option of the package to basic.)

In this case you have to call up the msi file over the command shell with the command stated below

msiexec /qb /I CopAddinSetup.msi

Formula mode won't be illustrated right

There're among other things two possibilities why the formula mode will be illustrated wrong. On the one hand the Version of the Excel Client isn't correct or the entry OPEN /A „ExcelClient” doesn't exist for the user. This entry has to do manually (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\X.0\Excel\Options)
Important: consider the open logic: After OPEN follows OPEN1 OPEN2 etc.

To check the version you have to review 4 specific Excel Client files:

  • Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel with Version 10.0.4504.0
  • Microsoft.Vbe.Interop with Version 10.0.4504.0
  • Office with Version 7.0.3300.0
  • sdtole with Version 7.0.3300.0

In addition you have to consider if you have a 32-bit or a 64-bit system.

Wrong Format on integrated masks

If you changed the symbol options for the decimal separator and/or for the digit grouping in the "Region and Language" properties (Additional settings)you also have to do the changes in the Excel Client functions:

  • SetNumberGroupSeparator
  • SetNumberDecimalSeparator

You can do this over the function fx, category: Excel Client directly at the Excel Client.

Hint  The changes apply only to the current user who has changed the options.

The changes refer only to the current user who has changed the options.

If you want to check the Region and Language property-changes you can call up the functions

  • GetNumberGroupSeparator
  • GetNumberDecimalSeparator

Hint  To change the set-functions you have to start the Excel Client as Administrator.

Hint: "Export not possible"/"no language paket is installed for the configurated language"

If the MsgBox "Export not possible"/"no language packet is installed for the configurated language" will be displayed, in MS Office (Excel) the language packet for the display language isn't activated or installed (see Format->Region and Language).
